BP oil leak victims face strings on $20bn spill fund – Telegraph

BP strikes again, demanding that victims of their oil spill give up their rights in order to receive payments from the fund set up to compensate the victims of the largest oil spill in U.S. history.  If you take money from the BP fund now, you can never sue BP for damages caused by their Gulf Coast oil spill.  Thank you President Obama.

Now we all no that BP is no lover of constitutional rights, but the U.S. government?  Didn’t President Obama play a key role in setting up this fund?  Maybe that’s why he’s vacationing on the Northeast beaches instead of down South.

BP Supported Release of Lockerbie Bomber

BP, Lockerbie Bomber, Profits
BP, Lockerbie Bomber, Profits

So as BP heroically caps its massively profitable and irrevocably damaging well in the Gulf Coast, many people may begin to question their negative views of the oil giant.

Well Hillary Clinton and the BBC are not forgetting a rather ugly episode from the recent past.  According to this article from the BBC, BP actually admits that it pressured the British Government to push for the release of convicted terrorist Addelbaset al-Megrahi, otherwise known as the Lockerbie Bomber.

Why BP Won’t Stop The Leak

Why BP Won't Stop The Leak

Why BP Won't Stop The Leak

This is crazy, disturbing, and most likely true.

What if BP really has no incentive what-so-ever to stop the oil leak until the relief well is completed sometime in the next few weeks?

Robert Cavner from The Huffington Post mused over this idea.  Much of Mr. Cavner’s thought process follows that of “Fishgrease” a writer at Daily Kos.

The basic premise is this: If BP capped the oil spill today, then the spillage rate could be accurately determined and measurement would be made possible at that point.  The way that legal measurement works, according to Fishgrease, is this: You capture all of the oil from a well over a 24-hour period, apply a separation process, and then you have an accurate measurement.

Bobby Jindal Plays Politics With BP Oil Disaster

Bobby Jindal Playing Politics With Barak Obama

Bobby Jindal and Barak Obama Playing Politics

In a truly amazing display of indifference, Bobby Jindal refuses to deploy the majority of National Guard troops at his disposal.

According to this CBS News report, Bobby Jindal has deployed less than 1,100 of the 6,000 National Guard troops that have been authorized for his state’s use since May.  That is not a typo!  Almost two full months have passed since the Federal Government cleared 6,000 troops to be used in cleaning up the Gulf Coast oil spill.

Hundreds Of Fishermen Missing Checks From BP – WDSU News New Orleans

Gulf Fishermen Missing Checks From BP

Let the games begin!  Our good friends at BP have decided that its time to turn the screws on the “small people” they claim to care so much about.

This report by WDSU in New Orleans documents hundreds of fishermen who have not received their monthly check from BP.  The monthly check that BP agreed to pay them in compensation for destroying their livelihood.  In fact, BP didn’t just “agree” to it, it is a legal obligation hashed out between BP’s lawyers and lawyers representing 500 fishermen.

The American People Save Gulf Coast Sea Turtles

American People Save Gulf Coast Sea Turtles

American People Save Gulf Coast Sea Turtles

Power to the people!

Environmental groups have scored a major victory for the American people and have helped to save the endangered sea turtle population of the Gulf Coast for future generations.

Due to a lawsuit filed by various environmental groups, BP has been forced to stop burning sea turtles alive.  BP had previously been using controlled burning to clean up the oil spill in the gulf coast, and in the process deliberately burned trapped, living sea turtles.

U.S. Coast Guard and BP Ban Free Speech

BP Bans Free Speech

Amendment I (United States Constitution)

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

In 1644 John Milton argued against government censorship of ideas.  He theorized that if ideas were given free and uninhibited license, then people would be smart enough to tell the good from the bad.

More Bureaucracy in Wake of BP Oil Spill

Soldiers in the War On Oil

Soldiers in the War On Oil

As the old saying goes, be careful what you ask for.

In response to the Gulf Coast oil spill, our government has reacted as a true political body.  They have created a new layer of bureaucrats in charge of regulating the exploitation of our nation’s natural resources while maintaining a safe environment for our citizens.

According to the New York Times, this agency will be like a phoenix, rising out of the ashes of the old Minerals Management Service.  In fact, the old single department will be replaced by three more departments. Now that’s getting your tax dollars’ worth!

Raining Oil in the Gulf?

Oil Rain in the Gulf

Raining Oil in the Gulf

The internet is all afoot with rumors of oily rain in Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida.

The Huffington Post couldn’t resist posting about it.  Twitter and Facebook are all abuzz.

So what’s the hype?

This is the story:

A video has surfaced where residents of inner Louisiana filmed it raining in their home town.  The rain had some visible features similar to BP’s oil spill in the Gulf.  And that was enough to go viral.

BP ‘burning sea turtles alive’ | Raw Story

Read the latest Update: BP Forced to Stop Hurting Sea Turtles

BP Burns Sea Turtles

This story makes my stomach turn.

I would love to ignore it, but it is too gruesome to let go.  BP seems to be allowing the burning of living, endangered sea turtles.  In the never-ending pursuit of profit and corner-cutting, BP realizes that it will face a steep penalty for killing so many endangered sea turtles.  $25,000 per violation according to some sources.  So how do you save yourself from facing those steep penalties?  Destroy the evidence.
